World mapping suggestion

Hey guys. I don't know if it's ever been brought up but I would love to have a google map style online world map viewer for the server.

What made me think of it was running across this today and it looks pretty awesome.

It can show clickable signs to read signs in the world and player locations too. There is a small sample map in those links, and also the wiki article has some user maps linked at the bottom.

Anyway, just a thought. It would be interesting to see just how much we have explored overall on the server. :-)

In the next update notch is adding maps.

I'm all for that kind of map. It would be awesome to see the entire world that we have all explored so far. I also like the ability to zoom in and get some nice detail as well. It is great for scoping out new places to build, and where to go exploring.

Well keep in mind Dan, it will only show you areas that other people have already walked through and generated chunks for. :-) An overhead view of the various towns and fortresses would be awesome though.
